Malaysian Islamic Funeral Services of a Coronavirus (COVID-19) victim.

According to Malaysian Health Ministry's guideline, the bodies of Covid-19 can only be handled by those specially trained to handle who died from infectious diseases like Ebola virus.

Penang Mufti Datuk Seri Dr.Wan Salim Wan Mohd Noor said the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) has issued strict orders on how to prepare such bodies for burial.

1.   Using PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
2.   Bodies not handed over to families but remain under custody of heath authority.
3.   Families not allow to touch them, bathe them, dress them (as per Islamic requirement).
4.   Only dry ritual purification(using dust or air) and no kain kapan(shroud).
5.   Instead plastic sheet and bodybag used.
6.   Prayer done by the health authority.
7.   Special coffin used and sealed.
8.   No funeral send-off by families.
9.   Only burial done by the health authority.
10. Complete with burial decontimination and sanitation

This hard time period can be very distress and is a lonely death.
